Getting started with InboxNest
Add a domain, choose Direct MX or forwarding, verify the connection, and send a controlled first reply.
Add a domain
Sign in, open Domains, and add the domain you want customers to email. InboxNest inspects nameservers and MX records so it can recommend Direct MX or forwarding and show the values that belong to your account.
Choose Direct MX or forwarding
Use Direct MX only when the domain is not already receiving email through another service, or when you intentionally want InboxNest to become the inbound destination. Use forwarding when Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or another mailbox must keep working.
Replacing existing MX records can stop delivery to those mailboxes. Forwarding users should leave current MX records alone.
See Direct MX or forwarding? before you continue.
Add the values shown in InboxNest
Stay on the domain setup screen. It is the source of truth for every host, value, priority, and forwarding destination. Public documentation only uses placeholders such as your-domain.com and record-value-shown-in-inboxnest.
- For Direct MX, add the displayed MX, sending, and any recommended protection records at the authoritative DNS host. Provider guides: GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, and Squarespace.
- For forwarding, keep the current MX records and forward the branded address to the destination InboxNest displays. Then add only the sending records shown for replies.
Verify and test
Return to InboxNest and use Verify setup. When the domain and branded address show as connected, use Send a test email. InboxNest sends a real message from its system sender to that address through your Direct MX or forwarding route. Seeing the conversation in Inbox confirms incoming mail works. Postmark accepting the outbound request is not the final proof.
After the test conversation appears, reply from InboxNest so you can confirm the branded From address. If the message does not arrive, see DNS troubleshooting.
