Forward a Google Workspace mailbox to InboxNest

Keep Google MX records in place and forward the branded mailbox to the destination shown in InboxNest.

When this guide applies

Google Workspace is an email provider, not a DNS host. Use this page when the branded mailbox already lives in Google Workspace or Gmail for Google Workspace, and InboxNest is set to forwarding.

Where to sign in

Sign in to the Google Workspace mailbox for the branded address, or to the admin tools you use to manage that mailbox.

In Gmail, open Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Workspace admins may also manage routing in the Admin console; the goal is the same: forward the branded address, not the whole domain’s MX records.

Enter the InboxNest destination

On the InboxNest setup screen, copy the private forwarding destination shown beside the branded address. In Google, add that exact destination. Customers keep writing to the branded address.

Google’s verification step

Google usually emails a confirmation to the forwarding destination. Because that destination is the private InboxNest address, the confirmation arrives as a normal conversation in your InboxNest Inbox. Open it there and complete Google’s confirmation.

InboxNest does not show a separate Google confirmation-code form. After forwarding is in place, InboxNest can also mark receiving as connected when a forwarded message proves the branded mailbox, or when it receives its own connection-test message. Then return to domain setup and click Verify setup.

What not to delete

Do not change Google MX records. Do not delete unrelated filters. Add sending DNS records only where InboxNest shows them, at the authoritative DNS host—not in the Gmail forwarding screen.

Return to InboxNest

Finish Google’s confirmation, then click Verify setup on the domain screen. Send a controlled message to the branded address to confirm it appears in Inbox.

Troubleshooting

If Google says it is waiting for confirmation, look in InboxNest Inbox, including Spam, for the Google message. If mail still never arrives, confirm you forwarded the branded mailbox itself and that existing Google MX records were not replaced. See DNS troubleshooting.
