Route a branded address with Cloudflare Email Routing
Use Cloudflare Email Routing to send the branded address to the forwarding destination shown in InboxNest.
When this guide applies
Use this page when the branded address is routed through Cloudflare Email Routing. That is a mail-routing product. It is not the same thing as adding ordinary A, CNAME, or TXT records in Cloudflare DNS.
Where to sign in
Sign in to the Cloudflare dashboard and select the domain that owns the branded address.
Email Routing navigation
Open Email → Email Routing (wording can vary slightly) and add or edit the routing address for the branded mailbox.
Enter the InboxNest destination
Create a route from the branded address to the private destination shown in InboxNest. Do not invent a destination from this page.
- Type
- Email route
- Host / Name
- support@your-domain.com
- Value / Target
- forwarding-address-shown-in-inboxnest
- TTL
- Use the provider default, or the TTL shown in InboxNest if one is listed.
This is not ordinary Cloudflare DNS
Cloudflare Email Routing uses its own destination addresses and routing rules. The Cloudflare DNS guide is for MX, TXT, and CNAME records shown on the InboxNest setup screen, including DNS-only CNAME instructions. Follow that guide for sending records. Follow this page for the branded-address route.
If you chose forwarding, do not replace working Email Routing MX records just to “point the domain at InboxNest.”
What not to delete
Keep existing Email Routing MX records unless you are intentionally leaving Email Routing. Do not delete unrelated DNS records. Add InboxNest sending records as shown on the setup screen, with CNAME proxy set to DNS only when that record type is displayed.
Return to InboxNest
Save the route, return to InboxNest, and click Verify setup.
Troubleshooting
Confirm the route matches the branded address exactly and that the destination is the value copied from InboxNest. Then retry verification. See DNS troubleshooting.
