Connect an inbox address
Create a branded inbox address and, when using forwarding, point that mailbox at the destination shown in InboxNest.
Create the branded address
After the domain is added, create the inbox address customers should use, such as a support or hello address on your-domain.com. InboxNest sends and receives as that branded address. Customers never need to see a private forwarding destination.
The forwarding destination
If the domain uses forwarding, the setup screen shows a private destination for each address. Forward only that branded mailbox to forwarding-address-shown-in-inboxnest. Keep existing MX records. Provider guides:
- Type
- Forwarding destination
- Host / Name
- support@your-domain.com
- Value / Target
- forwarding-address-shown-in-inboxnest
- TTL
- Use the provider default, or the TTL shown in InboxNest if one is listed.
Verify receiving
Return to the domain setup screen and click Verify setup. InboxNest marks receiving as connected when a forwarded message proves the branded mailbox, or when it receives its own connection-test message. Google Workspace and similar providers may also send a confirmation to the forwarding destination; that confirmation appears as a normal conversation in Inbox so you can finish the provider’s step.
Then use Send a test email, or send a controlled message from another mailbox, and reply from InboxNest.
Send a test email
After the domain and address are connected, Send a test email appears on the domain setup success screen and next to each eligible address in domain settings. InboxNest always sends to the address shown on that control. It never guesses among multiple addresses.
The button asks InboxNest to send a real message through the configured inbound route. A “Test email sent” confirmation only means the outbound request was accepted. The proof is a normal unread conversation appearing in Inbox, usually through the existing live update. If it does not arrive, open DNS troubleshooting and check the records or forwarding rule shown in InboxNest.
